Purpose, Scope and Objectives
Purpose
 The purpose of this cable forum is to provide an arena for the free exchange of information, informal discussion and sharing of knowledge and experience.
Scope
The scope of this forum is any topic or issue relating to the design, manufacturing, installation, operation and general management of power network cables. The following are considered within scope:
- Auxiliary and control wiring (including identification);
- LV, MV, HV & EHV Cables and associated joints/accessories;
- Earthing aspects of cables;
- Cable related asset/risk management;
- Cable rating issues and associated software packages;
- Failure mode investigation and related incidents of interest to other operators;
- Cable management and related system tools, techniques and technologies.
Objectives
- To consider common problems and seek common solutions (eg equipment performance, failures etc);
- To be informed of new technologies and innovation (eg what is new from the manufacturers, technical bodies etc);
- To consider the impact of technical changes in the design and operation of power networks from a cable perspective;
- To consider cost effective management solutions for cable networks (eg safety, reliability, maintenance, testing, commissioning etc)
- To be a knowledgeable forum able to inform and influence national and international technical bodies and associations.
Attendance
- Membership shall be restricted to Network Operators and EA Technology Ltd
(This may be extended in future by majority agreement of current members);
- A standing invitation to shall be extended to the Energy Networks Association;
- Manufacturers, Service Providers and Ad Hoc visitors may attend by invitation only.
