Purpose, Scope and Objectives
Purpose
The Plant Engineers Forum is a bi-annual forum attended by engineers from the UK Distribution Network Operators. The aim of the Forum is to allow engineers to share knowledge and raise awareness of plant-related issues which affect the industry as a whole, including plant failures and safety and standards issues. Each Forum includes presentations from guest speakers on topics of interest as well as discussion of the issues raised by Forum members.
Scope
The scope of this forum includes:
Plant manufacturing and installation issues
Operational issues
Plant related Safety and Standards issues
New developments in plant design and manufacture
Failure mode investigation and related incidents of interest to other operators
Asset management tools, techniques and technologies
Objectives
To consider common problems and seek common solutions (eg equipment performance, failures etc)
To be informed of new technologies and innovation (eg what is new from the manufacturers, technical bodies etc)
To consider the impact of technical changes in the design and operation of power networks from a plant perspective
To consider cost effective management solutions for substation plant (eg safety, reliability, maintenance, testing, commissioning etc)
To be a knowledgeable forum able to inform and influence national and international technical bodies and associations
Attendance
Membership shall be restricted to Network Operators and EA Technology Ltd
(This may be extended in future by majority agreement of current members)
A standing invitation to shall be extended to the Energy Networks Association
Manufacturers, Service Providers and Ad Hoc visitors may attend by invitation only.
