Safety Compliance Service for
HSE DIN/SOP/NEDER
INTRODUCTION
The Health & Safety Executive have published a document,
HSG 230 "Keeping Switchgear Safe" which details advice on the management of switchgear assets, and is primarily aimed at Private Network Operators in industrial or commercial organisations.
Part of this H&SE requirement is to keep an Asset Register which forms the basis of management information. The register has to provide identification information - location, type, maintenance records etc.
The provision of an up to date Asset Register will enable the application of an historical analysis of past and current safety notices (DIM, SOP, NEDeR) issued by the Electricity Networks Associated, to be applied to switchgear assets.
DIN Dangerous IncidentA dangerous incident is one where the incident resulted in or could have resulted in a fatality or serious injury with an item of plant.
SOP Suspension of Operational PractiseA notification of a company-specific suspension/change in some operational practise or procedure with an item of plant, for example, circuit breakers to be operated from a remote location or access restrictions around plant items.
NEDeR National Equipment Defect ReportA notification of a design defect or in service problems/faults with plant items.
