Contact Probe™
The Ultrasonic Contact Probe™ is a high tech detector that can identify the sounds of surface discharge activity in sealed chambers by monitoring the vibrations produced in the chamber walls.- Detects Partial Discharge (PD) activity within sealed units
- Accurately detects very small vibrations at ultrasonic frequencies
- Clamps magnetically to casing to eliminate operator error
- One of the most sensitive contact probes available
- Works with EA Technology’s PD instrument range
In dry termination switchgear, PD activity is usually identified by detecting sounds carried along the ventilation air path. However, this is not always possible, as existing compound filled boxes are often converted to dry termination types, or dry termination boxes are manufactured without ventilation, preventing the sound from escaping.
In these cases, a contact probe is required to detect vibrations in the outer casing caused by the ultra sonic sounds of PD activity.
EA Technology’s Ultrasonic Contact Probe™ has been specifically tuned to detect the ultrasonic frequencies associated with partial discharge. It attaches magnetically for a convenient, hands free operation, while at the same time eliminating errors caused by varying contact pressure interference from the operator.
The Ultrasonic Contact Probe™ is proven under controlled conditions to be one of the most sensitive contact probes available, yet it is robustly built to last through repeated usage.
The Ultrasonic Contact Probe™ is designed to work with EA Technology’s extensive portfolio of PD instruments, including the
UltraTEV Plus+™,
UltraTEV Locator™ and
UltraTEV Monitor™ .
