Distribution Network Strategy Conference

EA Technology, in conjunction with the Energy Networks Association, held the 2nd Distribution Network Strategy Conference, Network 2010, on Thursday 4th February. The event was attended by 60 senior executives from the energy sector in the UK and internationally, many of whom also joined EA Technology at the Institute of Engineering and Technology’s Annual Dinner.

This year’s event considered the Challenge of Designing Tomorrow’s Networks Today and presentations given included ‘An Australian Perspective on Smart Grids’ from Terry Effeney, CEO of Energex, an Australian Distribution Network Operator; ‘Developing a Sustainable Network Strategy’ from Denis O’Leary, Head of Asset Management at the ESB, Ireland; and ‘Using Commercial Offices to Build a Smart Grid’ from Pete Scarpelli, from Schneider Electric’s Demand Response Resource Center. Giles Scott from the Department of Energy and Climate Change and Mark Mathieson from SSE provided updates on activities closer to home, including the work of the Electricity Networks Strategy Group (ENSG).
