MSc Power Asset Management

Liverpool John Moores University and EA Technology have joined forces to offer a new MSc in Power Asset Management aimed at industry personnel who want to add crucial asset management skills to their existing engineering experience, as well as companies who will need these skills more and more in the challenging years ahead. The new course offers:

  • A flexible, modular structure
  • Expert industry and academic input
  • A comprehensive review of current thinking and best practice
  • A major work-based final project
  • Bespoke course option for overseas companies

By combining the academic input from Liverpool John Moores University, one of Britain’s most highly regarded engineering schools, with the hands-on experience of EA Technology, one of the industry’s leading providers of power asset management consultancy, services and products, the new MSc course will deliver engineers who not only understand the technical details of power asset management, but also have real experience of how these ideas work in the day-to-day management of working power assets.

The course has been put together following extensive consultation with industry experts and research groups in the School of Engineering, Technology and Maritime Operations, and will be delivered by industry practitioners to ensure that it reflects the most current thinking and the latest practice in energy generation and distribution.

Since it is aimed at working engineers, the course has been created with a flexible modular structure, taught at both the School of Engineering, Technology and Maritime Operations in Liverpool and EA Technology’s excellent training facilities at Capenhurst, near Chester. These sessions are backed by extensive self-directed learning and the application of this learning within the student’s workplace.

The programme is offered with a target award of Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma or Master of Science. The modules that make up the PG Cert, PG Dip and MSc can also be offered as individual short courses without examination or academic award. The costs of the programme for 2011 entry are as follows:

  • Postgraduate Certificate (PG Cert) 60 credits- £4,500
  • Postgraduate Diploma (PG Dip) 120 credits - £8,635
  • Master of Science (MSc) 180 credits - £11,551

Overseas companies have the option of block booking bespoke courses for their engineers that provide cost effective training in a concise and time-efficient package.
