Jonathan Capper

Chairman, IRATA International

Capper has over thirty years’ experience in the ‘work at height’ industry.
He is the current Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA International) Chairman.
Previously, Capper was the Chairman of IRATA International Equipment, Standards and Testing Committee for 15 years.
He is an executive member of IRATA International and a member of BSI Standards Committee PH5 Personal Fall Protection.




Rodney Marage

Co. Secretary and General Manager, IRATA International

Rodney Marage is responsible for the progression and administration of all Certification Activities covering 68,000 Industrial Rope Access Technicians.
In addition to overseeing the IRATA International Technician Certification Scheme, he oversees the implementation and enforcement of regulatory activities for all IRATA International accredited member companies, ranging from SMEs to multinational conglomerates.

Blandine has worked for Météorage for 5 years and is the Sales Manager over Northern Europe.
Météorage operates an European lightning detection network, they have sensors able to detect in real time the lightning activity.
With this data, they develop services in real time for many sectors, such as Electricity network operators, gas, telecom railway network operators, industries, insurances…
In real time they provide services for lightning prevention, observation and services for the analyse and correlation.




Vincent Marec

International Product Manager Overhead Switchgear, G&W Electric

Vincent has 18 years of experience in the switchgear industry. He started his career at Alstom – now GE – in the high voltage circuit breaker world where he held the roles of Marketing Engineer, Regional Product Manager and International Business Development Manager.

Now at G&W, through the positions of Sr. Sales Engineer and Product Manager for the Overhead Switchgear product line, Vincent is proud to have made contributions to bring the Viper reclosers to the Number One market share in G&W’s domestic markets. Today, he is busy with projects pushing the R&D limits to new higher ratings.



Brian McGowan

Global Wildlife & Asset Protection Portfolio Manager, TE Connectivity (TE) Ireland Limited

With over 20 years of expertise in materials and High Voltage product design and testing, Brian McGowan manages the Wildlife and Asset Protection product and solutions portfolio for TE Connectivity (TE).

TE specialises in the design and manufacturing of reliable electrical products for generation, transmission, and distribution.

TE offers a comprehensive portfolio for cable accessories, connectors and fittings and Insulation and protection.



Nigel Parry

Health and Safety Consultant (Project Manager), SP Energy Networks

Nigel’s presentation is highly informative concentrating on public safety as well as the safety of those working at heights.

Nigel, a family man who is celebrating 34 years of marriage, has worked for SP Energy Networks for 31 of those years and is a genuine authority on this subject.



Stéphane Morice

Overhead Lines Tek Manager, Nexans

Stéphane Morice joined Nexans in 2006 as R&D Project Manager. In this position, he worked in the development of several metallurgical new products in different businesses such as automotive, LAN, aeronautics. He also participated in the development of new technologies linked to overhead lines, such as carbon composite core and surface treatment, in close relation with European TSO’s. He is currently Product Manager for overhead lines for the Nexans group and active member of CIGRE, CENELEC, IEC for OHL.

Until 2006 he held different positions of process, methods, and business engineer. He has a degree in physical chemistry and a post-graduate diploma in mechanics from the French national school “Arts et Métiers”



Martin Stanley

Founder and Managing Director, Point4

Martin Stanley (known as Stan) is the Founder and Managing Director of Point4. Stan has 25 years of Vegetation Management experience in the utility sector and through this practical perspective the RiMiT® concept was born.

Using remote sensing and earth observation technologies (including airborne LiDAR and optical satellite imagery), RiMiT® will provide industry with clear insight into complex vegetation risk by reporting proximity trees growing next to OHL. Further, the solution will enable field crews to share vegetation clearance measurements with office staff using satellite communication technology. The innovative solutions being developed by Point4 are financially supported by the European Space Agency.


Dave Cummins

Director of IRIS Group Aero

Dave began his career as a military pilot in the Royal Air Force, flying the Nimrod MR2.

He is now Director of IRIS Group Aero, a service and consultancy business offering expert provision of managed solutions using robots with a primary focus on unmanned air systems (UAS).




Pat Howe

Chartered Electrical Engineer, SSE

Pat Howe is a Chartered Electrical Engineer, a 400kV SAP and has over 30 years extensive experience on both Distribution & Transmission Overhead lines.

He has been the Lead Project Manager for the introduction of ACCC on the SSEN Transmission Network. Current project is the Fort William – Fort Augustus 132kV OHL a 44kM circuit of PL16 towers through the Great Glen in the Scottish Highlands.



Alberto Oscar

Technical Director and Senior Chief Engineer at Tesmec SpA

Alberto is Technical Director and Senior Chief Engineer at Tesmec SpA, Italy, where he leads a large team of design engineers specialised in designing and manufacturing stringing machines and equipment for transmission, distribution overhead and underground projects.



Dan Stanton

Product Manager – Transmission Market, DMC Power

Dan has 30 years’ experience in the power connector industry, all in the electric utility space. He specialises in application, performance, reliability, testing and total cost ownership modelling.

Dan is expert in the high temperature operation of transmission splices and dead-ends. Previous employers have included Burndy and ACA aka Alcoa/AFL.



Jon Knapper

Managing Director of Allied Insulators Ltd

Jon is the Managing Director of Allied Insulators Ltd; a company with over 150 years’ experience in the design, manufacture and supply of electrical Insulators and associated products for the Transmission Distribution and Railway industries. Aside from the core management and business aspects his role focuses on the research and development of new pioneering insulators and solutions for the industry.


Emily Marquand

Consultant, EA Technology

Emily has worked at EA Technology for three and half years starting out as a Cheshire Energy Hub Graduate and finally settling into the Earthing and Lightning Protection team. As well as carrying out earthing designs, compliance audits and lightning risk assessments, Emily is the project manager for the Lightning Location System.




John Joseph

Consultant, EA Technology

John has been a member of the Forensics team at EA Technology since 2012. In his role within the Forensic team, John primarily manages both failure investigation and condition assessment projects across a wide variety of electrical assets.

Over the years, John has developed an extensive knowledge of the critical degradation processes and dominant failure modes typically experienced by in-service overhead line assets.


Steve Crighton

Inventor and Managing Director, Pollywood

Steve has worked in all sectors of the wood industry and comes from a family steeped in the industry for many generations. This has given him the opportunity to understand all the technical aspects of wood and its potential end uses.

In addition to running his own previous businesses, Steve has a track record of innovating for former employers.
